Nature Signs: "Indi Meets Washington" translated in Sign Language

Updated: Dec 5, 2022

Written by Madison Traviss

Illustrated by Sien Tran

Translated in American Sign Language by Summer Crider

New trails, new people, new everything. Follow Indi's 500 mile journey along the Pacific Crest Trail in Washington as she learns to overcome her fears.

This is part of a collaboration between Summer Crider of The Giving Cypress and Madison Traviss, both are certified Nature/Forest Therapy guides. This project started off as an idea to make nature-related literature more accessible for the Deaf/signing community. After long hours of editing, illustrating, and going through publication- book is now published and available for purchase. It includes a QR code that will direct readers to see the videos of Summer translating the story in ASL while Madison reads out loud.

This bilingual book is a perfect gift for children and those who appreciate the outdoors, dogs, hiking, and sign language. :)
